Dena Bank was established on 26th May, 1938 by the family of Devkaran Nanjee under the name Devkaran Nanjee Banking Company Ltd. Later the name was changed to Dena Bank Ltd. During nationalization process in 1969, Dena Bank was nationalized. Dena is certainly amongst the most promising banks across the country. Way back in 1994, it was the first one to receive approval RBI to start up in private sector. It was done when RBI went for liberalization of banking industry of the country in 1994. Dena Bank has several milestones to its credit. Secondly, it is amongst rare banks to receive the World Bank loan for technological up gradation and training. It is also credited to launch a Bond Issue of Rs.92.13 crores in November 1996. It also went for Maiden Public Issue of Rs.180 crores in November 1996. It has also Introduced Tele banking facility of selected metropolitan centers.
