United Bank of India (UBI) is amongst those 14 major banks which were nationalized in 1969. Its precursor the United Bank of India Ltd., was shapedup in 1950 with the merger of four banks viz. Comilla Banking Corporation Ltd, Bengal Central Bank Ltd, Comilla Union Bank Ltd and Hooghly Bank Ltd. United Bank of India was formed in the year 1914.
