The regional transport office of Pune works on a Central Act which is applicable throughout the country. Its prime responsibility is to enforce various provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 and the Maharashtra Motro Vehicles Rules, 1989.
