IIT Varanasi is one of the largest campuses amongst various other IIT colleges of the country. The campus is spread over 1,300 acres at the south corner of Varanasi located on the edges of River Ganges. The science departments of the University were under the Central Hindu College. IIT Varanasi comprises departments of Science which includes separate centers of Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Geology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry and Ceramics in September 1935.
