The Kurukshetra University in the state of Haryana dates back its establishment in the year of 1957.The university was patronized by the first President of Independent India Dr. Rajendra Prasad, and in the year of 1969 the institute of law was established in the university. This was the first legal institute in the state of Haryana. Since its start the department has been imparting eminent legal knowledge to its students, and this convention is being maintained till date. From the very beginning the department was headed by the eminent and renowned personalities specialized in the legal profession, and till date this convention has been well maintained. The present institute of law was established in the year of 2001.

At present the institute is offering both under graduate, post graduate and doctoral legal courses in its curriculum. The institute offers LLB or Bachelor of Laws and an integrated B.A.LLB or Bachelor of Legislative Laws course program to the undergraduates and for the post graduates it offers LLM or Masters of Laws course program. Further, this institute has extensive areas and subjects for those individuals, who desire to pursue their doctoral courses. These students get a good guidance on their research papers from the eminent professors in this institute.
